To Care or Not To Care???

At Retire@Midstream we often get the question: “Why should I buy in Retire@Midstream and not in any of the other suburbs of Midstream Estate. What valued added service will I get at R@M that I won’t get in the greater Midstream Estate?” The answer is embedded in the many different ways of looking at the word “care”.

At the time that you first enquire into Retire@Midstream your mental, physical and emotional health is strong and you may even take the concept of “care” in any form as a bit of an insult or as irritating useless information. The greater Midstream Estate seems so much more apt to your current lifestyle and you feel that it would serve your current needs better. I emphasize the word current for that very reason. Over the best part of a decade we have seen how the current status quo of life changes and how the need for medical care and very importantly the need for someone that cares changes drastically. Herein lies the most important difference between living in Retire@Midstream or not. To have care or not to have care!

Bondev developed Retire@Midstream with the vision of it being a safe, exclusive vibrant environment that offers the retired person holistic care through every stage of retirement. To fulfil this vision Bondev is about to start the development of the Assisted Care and the specialised Alzheimer facility. These two care facilities will give every ageing person complete peace of mind that when the time comes they will not have to leave the environment they know because of lack of available services. This point is another part of the answer to the question, why R@M and not the rest of the estate. Preferred access to care facilities in R@M is for residents only. This will effectively mean that as an elderly person with the growing need for care at varying levels sometime in the future, you will be at risk of not having access to such care if you are not a resident at R@M. This may sound harsh but it is a necessary reality to give those who have invested their retirement care in our hands the peace of mind that they have paid for. Facilities such as home care, and the panic button are very valuable after an operation or at times of illness when your spouse is not able to take care of you effectively. You may be alone and have no one to take care of you. This could be devastating to your recovery. Perhaps you can no longer drive? Only when you live in Retire@Midstream will you have access to the bus service and so maintain your independence, and so the list goes on. We are very excited about the imminent development of these care facilities and believe that they will not only add to the already excellent service list available at R@M but will also add to the value of the investment made by every purchaser, both in their lives and financially.

The word “care” has another meaning and is the final but very important part of the answer to the question of why R@M versus buying a small single storey house elsewhere in Midstream. This may not seem valuable at the time of first enquiry as you may not yet be in a phase of your life where having people of your own age and outlook around you is important. We have personally experienced the positive and beautiful effects that having a caring neighbour has had on our residents in all age groups and levels of lifestyles. You may not yet need physical care on a daily basis but your life may have changed through the tragic loss of your partner. There is much healing to be found in your caring community in R@M. There is much healing to be found in the many different activities and social gatherings held at R@M. Loneliness is something that no amount of medical care can alter or fix. The environment and community that you find yourself in is the most important key to healing loneliness and this environment is within the R@M community. Elsewhere in Midstream the loving people around you are very busy with their demanding lifestyles and are off to work at sunrise and get back home after sunset. They unfortunately only have energy left for the needs of their immediate family and friends. You could argue that you can connect to people through other means and associations but the proof is in the amount of people we see coming to enquire about life at R@M because of this very reason. It is just that much easier to rebuild your life in an environment where people care but mostly have the time to care and share in your life. Retire@Midstream still have units available for sale and we are on show every weekend. We invite you to come visit us there and we will gladly answer all your questions and concerns.
